Where did I get the idea for painting dragon eyes?
This gem of a craft was introduced to me by my husband in 2016. He had tried to follow a tutorial online and make me a dragon eye for Christmas. The YouTube video was by a woman named Yvonne Williams. She runs a store and channel named Back to Earth Creations. She’s freaking awesome!
Even though I never got to see the eye my husband started painting (he said it was too cartoon-like after he finished the pupil and promptly threw it away), it was still a life changing Christmas gift. He gave me a new hobby. I have opened my own business up around this one craft.
These are the first dragon eyes I created. The red and gold one in the middle was my first.
It’s crazy to think how little things can change the entire course of our lives.
Now, I’ve watched lots of tutorials by this woman. I’m so influenced by her that I’m going give you her info. I don’t care if you follow go look at her stuff and like her more than me. I’m not about that. She is an amazing artist and is worth following if you follow crafters.
Yvonne Williams
-------------->
She is sweet
Creative
Talented in a billion ways
Soft spoken
informative
and seemingly an all-around good person
After I watched her first tutorial, I started making dragon eyes. It wasn’t until way after that initial introduction to her channel that I actually started following her. Each time I looked up a new tutorial, whether it be leather working, polymer clay, wire wrapping, vending at fairs, she had a tutorial pop up. And they are great tutorials. So, if you are looking for a very talented crafter who already has a backlog of content then you should check her out!
I’m secretly hoping to run into her at a renaissance faire one day. That would be cool to meet someone who has freely contributed so much to my life.
And Yvonne, if you read this, thank you for being such an inspiration to me and my art. Thank you for teaching me my craft and offering knowledge freely.
